FAQ for Synagogue Items
How do I order a Parochet (Ark Curtain)?
  1. Measure from the middle of the rod to the floor, or choose your own measurements. If you are taking measurements from an existing Parochet please include the rings and the fringes in your measurement.
  2. Measure the width of the Ark, or the width that you would like.
  3. Would you like your Parochet to hang from a rod with or without rings? If you choose without rings we will make a special rim around the top. Generally we make a very simple rim. If you would like something more unique and original please let us know when you order.
  4. Our rings have a diameter of 2.8cm. They are available in natural wood or cherry color. Choose the style you want from the samples on our website. Otherwise create your own unique design together with our graphics department.
  5. Choose a color for your material: white, off-white, green, black, dark blue, royal, Bordeaux, wine, brown, and more.
  6. Choose a color for the embroidery: gold, silver, both, or colorful.

What is a kaporet?
A Kaporet is a piece of material on top of the Parochet. There are 3 types of Kaporets
  1. A separate rod kaporet covers the rod that it is hanging from, and is an entirely separate piece of material. It also hangs on a separate rod.
  2. A same rod Kaporet is used for beauty. It is an extra piece of material that is sewn onto the Parochet with a top stitch this type of Parochet has 1 rod.
  3. An attached Kaporet is also for beauty. For example if you would like to add an extra Passuk or design to your Parochet. This kaporet is totally attached to the Parochet.
On the Kaporet you can embroider a passuk or a design. The regular height of a kaporet is 30-40 cm and the width is the same as the Parochet. If you have any special requests please let us know at the time of ordering. The price for a separate or same rod kaporet is $120 An attached kaporet is generally free.
